Inauguration of Global Migrant Workers Forum
Leaders of Cameroon Migrant Network attended the inauguration of Global Migrant Workers Forum, hosted by the Global Migrant Workers Network (GMWN) and supported by founding donors Humanity United and Walk Free, took place from 17 to 19 July 2024 at the Enashipai Resort & Spa in Naivasha, Kenya. The forum was convened to amplify the voices of migrant workers and foster collaboration among key stakeholders.
With the theme, “I belong here: This is a hopeful place,” the forum provided a platform for rich discussions led by migrant workers on transitioning from surviving to thriving, exploring leadership and solidarity, and driving meaningful policy changes that reflect their needs and aspirations. These sessions were interspersed with moments of joy and connection through song and dance, including music and contemporary dance performances.
Key outcomes of the forum include the symbolic launch of GMWN, the selection of the network’s leadership and organizational structure, and the creation of a supportive community that empowers migrant workers.
